We're (read: I'm) starting a little weekly series around these parts. It's called EE for short, and it stands for Europe Envy...not a bra size.
Each week, I'm going to go through my book (previously mentioned in this post), randomly flip to a country and tell you a little bit about it. Granted, these blurbs are merely a slice of the European pie, but they excite me to no end, and I hope they do the same for you.
PS: If you've been to any of these countries, please...do tell! I would love to hear what you have to say, good or bad.
So, without further adieu, let's start this first ever EE with...
HUNGARY
(Magyarorszag)
[Budapest]A country as unique as its language, Hungary has much more to offer than a profusion of wine, goulash, and thermal spas. Hip Budapest remains Hungary's ascendant social, economic, and political capital. Beyond the big-city rush are towns lined with cobblestone streets and wine valleys nestled in the northern hills, while beach resorts abound in the east. Though Hungary can be more expensive than some of its neighbors, it has a value all its own.
The Cold, Hard Facts
Official name: Hungary
Capital: Budapest
Major cities: Debrecen, Miskolc, Szeged
Population: 9,931,000
Language: Hungarian
So...who's Hungary?
Yuck yuck.
