B-b-b-back!

Lawd have mercy.

(Written in a southern drawl because...it's more intense that way.)

I know I've been gone (if I didn't know, I'd start to worry for my own sanity) and believe me, I didn't just take a blogging sabbatical because I felt like it. In fact, it's quite the opposite of voluntary. And because I trust all of you (I'm very trusting) and love all of you (I'm very loving), here's what went down.

My grandma is in town. Remember this classy broad?

I know, I know. Sassy lady she is. But I digress.

My sister, grandma and I were out having lunch this past Friday when we get a call from my dad telling us to come home because my mother just fainted.

Um, on our way captain.

I burn rubber getting back to the house, where I see a police car, a firetruck and an ambulance outside. My mom's on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on, being wheeled into the ambulance. My sister starts crying, my grandma says that she didn't come all the way from New York for this and my dad's in a bit of shock after finding her out cold on the bathroom floor. And me? Well, I'm just there. And before I know it, I'm in the passenger side of the ambulance en route to the hospital.

What came afterwards is all a bit of a blur and full of white walls, doctors and chaos. But eventually, we got my mom a room and she came to.

Bottom line: the doctor thinks my mom's headache (which caused her to faint) is a result of the accident we all were in. Why it affected my mom and not us, we don't know. But she just got home today and is doing better. Not great, but better.

Oh! I forgot to mention that my uncle, aunt and cousins were in from New York to visit as well, all while my mom was in the hospital. It was a lot to juggle, but we managed.

Hence, my lack of blogging.

So here I am, back and not really better than ever. Just back. And so grateful that my mom will be okay.

Tonight is Liza's first show of all original songs at a cafe. She's been preparing for this for a long time, and we're all very excited for her.

Yeah, I know. Can you say bad ass?

That was for you, cuppycake.

Anyway, I'll be back either later tonight or tomorrow. But it was killing me being away from you all. Problem solved!

Missed everyone. Seriously.
